معرفی
Thomas Ohnemus is a Researcher at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig, Germany, working within the Department of Monitoring and Exploration Technologies. He is actively involved in environmental research projects including the MIRO project (Measuring and modelling water demand in apple orchards) and the eLTER Plus project (Spatial representativity analyses).
His research interests focus on environmental monitoring, hydrology, soil science, and ecological modeling. Ohnemus specializes in analyzing environmental and socio-ecological gradients, with particular expertise in the design and representativity of long-term ecological research infrastructure. His work integrates field measurements, remote sensing data, and modeling approaches to address water resource management challenges.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on the eLTER research infrastructure, examining its coverage of climate and land use gradients, as well as developing methodologies for site-specific water status determination using advanced monitoring techniques including UAV-based thermal and multispectral imagery.
Ohnemus completed his Master of Science in Geoecology at the University of Bayreuth (2020-2022), where his thesis investigated Soil Nitrogen Cycling and Microbial Response following Urea Fertilization. Previously, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Leipzig (2016-2020), with a thesis on Regionalization of Ammonia Loss Potentials to Optimize Urea Fertilization in Germany.
