Thomas Nulley-Valdes is a Lecturer in Spanish Studies at the ANU's School of Literature, Languages and Linguistics, serving as Convenor of the Bachelor/Diploma of Languages and Languages Honours Convenor. He holds a PhD and BA (Hons) from ANU, specializing in World Literature with focus on 20th/21st century Latin American and Chilean literature. His research examines literature's interactions with artistic/political ecologies and traces its transnational circulation.
Key research projects include analyzing the McOndo literary movement's anthology impact (detailed in his 2023 monograph), global literary theory application, and Latino literature studies. He has organized major conferences like AILASA's 2024 Transnational Textures event and conducted fieldwork across Latin America, the US, and Europe.
