Dr. Thomas Neligwa is a Lecturer in Computer Science at Keele University since 2001. He holds roles including Deputy Director of Undergraduate/Postgraduate Computer Science Programmes and Subject Link Tutor at the International Study Centre. His academic qualifications include a BSc (Hons) from the University of Dar Es Salaam, MSc in Data Engineering (Keele, 1998), PhD in Computer Science (Keele, 2006), and a postgraduate certificate in Teaching & Learning in Higher Education.
Research focuses on semantic interoperability in distributed systems, agent-based architectures for holonic manufacturing systems, and Green IT strategies for database efficiency. His work includes contributions to the EU-funded Holonic Manufacturing Systems (HMS) project (1993–2003) and a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with KMF Sheet Metal Fabrication Ltd (2009–2010). He also leads Keele’s Green IT research on optimizing database performance.
Teaching includes modules like Fundamentals of Computing, Database Systems, and Distributed Intelligent Systems. Awards include Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. Supervision of multiple PhD students is ongoing.
