Thomas Morel

Thomas Morel is a Lecturer in the history and teaching of mathematics at the Higher School of Teaching and Education, University of Lille, with a focus on the Lens Mathematics Laboratory (EA 2462). He holds a PhD in the History of Science from the University of Bordeaux (2013) and a post-doctoral qualification from Technische Universität Berlin. His research centers on the social history of mathematical sciences in early modern Europe, particularly within German-speaking underground surveying (Markscheider) and the history of geodesy and instrumentation in the 18th century.

Thomas is a board member and current president of the French Society for the History of Science and Technology and contributes to editorial boards of Centaurus and Image des mathématiques. He collaborates on initiatives like the CIRMATH working group, examining mathematics' circulation through newspapers.
