معرفی
Thomas Michael Mueller is a University Professor (Maître de Conférences) in Economic Sciences at the University of Paris 8, holding authorization to direct research in History and Philosophy of Economic Thought. He maintains dual institutional affiliations through his primary position at Paris 8 and collaborative roles with GREDEG at the University of Côte d'Azur and CEFISES at UCL, focusing on interdisciplinary economic-philosophical research.
Education:
- PhD in Economics (History of Economic Thought), HEC Lausanne, 2015
- Master's Degree in Physics, Swiss Federal Institute of Technology of Lausanne, 2004-2006
Research Interests: Mueller's scholarship centers on 19th-century economic debates and their philosophical foundations, with deep specialization in epistemological frameworks of economic theory. His work critically examines freedom-necessity dialectics in microeconomic evolution, historical management paradigms, and the scientific status of economics through history-philosophy intersections. Current projects reveal growing emphasis on resource economics bifurcations and localized theoretical entanglements.
Advising and Grants: As co-responsible for Paris 8's Thesis Monitoring Committee since 2021, Mueller mentors doctoral candidates in economics. He directs multiple externally funded initiatives including the European Society for History of Economic Thought-supported "Will Vickrey" project (2023-present), AAP-funded "local entanglement" collaboration (2020-present), and co-leads the "History of Management" laboratory research (2019-present) with Sophie Agulhon.
Labs and Teams: Mueller actively contributes to the Pole History of Ideas, Cognition and Complexity (PHICC) and Team H2P2S (Recent History of Thought and Philosophy of Social Sciences), while maintaining research ties with GREDEG and the Dionysian Economics Laboratory where he investigates theoretical lineages through collaborative international projects.
