Thomas MJ Möllers

Professor Thomas MJ Möllers (born 1962) serves as Chair of Civil Law, Commercial Law, European Law, International Private Law and Comparative Law at the University of Augsburg's Faculty of Law, where he also holds the position of Vice Dean for International Relations. He leads a comprehensive research team including scientific staff, student assistants, honorary professors, and lecturers.

His research focuses on legal methodology, civil law, commercial law, European law, and international private law with special emphasis on law of obligations, environmental law, European economic law, corporate law, and capital markets law. His work demonstrates a strong commitment to examining the intersection of German, European, and international legal frameworks.

Professor Möllers has produced significant scholarly work including the sixth edition of 'Juristische Methodenlehre' (Legal Methodology) and numerous publications on European economic law, capital markets regulation, and legal methodology. His recent research examines the application of AI in legal interpretation, the regulation of PRIIPs, and judicial reasoning in civil matters.

His podcast series addresses contemporary legal issues including short selling, the Wirecard scandal, market manipulation, delisting procedures, and pandemic-related legal measures. These demonstrate his engagement with current legal challenges in financial markets and economic regulation.

Professor Möllers actively participates in international academic exchange, particularly with Chinese institutions through the European-Chinese Center for Legal Research and Innovation (RICE), and has organized multiple EU-China Young Jurists' Forums focusing on new developments in European, German, and Chinese law.
