Professor Thomas Levin Geiser Andersen is a distinguished academic and researcher at the University of Southern Denmark, where he serves as Professor and Group Leader of Molecular Bone Histology at the Clinical Institute and Research Unit for Pathology in Odense. His work is closely associated with DanSIC (Danish National Biobank) and Odense University Hospital (OUH), where he maintains a strong clinical research presence.
Professor Andersen's research primarily focuses on bone biology, with particular expertise in osteoclast and osteoblast function, bone remodeling processes, and the pathological mechanisms underlying bone diseases. His fingerprint analysis reveals significant contributions to understanding Osteoclast (100%), Osteoblast (91%), Osteolysis (84%), Ossification (78%), and Bone Remodeling (77%) processes, with clinical applications in Osteopathy (48%) and Multiple Myeloma (47%). His work bridges basic science with clinical applications, particularly in how bone diseases manifest in conditions like multiple myeloma.
His recent publications demonstrate a strong trend toward understanding the molecular mechanisms of bone diseases, with particular emphasis on the interaction between cancer cells (especially multiple myeloma) and bone tissue. His research spans from fundamental cellular processes to clinical applications, with growing interest in therapeutic interventions for bone-related pathologies. The interdisciplinary nature of his work is evident in collaborations spanning hematology, endocrinology, and ophthalmology.

Professor Andersen has been actively involved in PhD supervision and teaching, with documented guidance on projects related to intracortical bone remodeling, osteoprogenitor cells, and aging bone. His leadership extends to organizing research workshops, including the 1st Bone Research Workshop at Sandbjerg Estate in 2018. He serves as an internal examiner and participates in assessment committees, demonstrating his commitment to academic development. His research group focuses on molecular bone histology, with particular expertise in bone remodeling events and their clinical implications.
