Thomas Kron

Prof. Dr. Thomas Kron is a University Professor at RWTH Aachen University, affiliated with the Institute of Sociology under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. He serves as the Chair in Sociology and has been a key figure in advancing sociological theory and interdisciplinary research since 2007.

• Education: Dr. rer. pol. (PhD) from Otto-Friedrich University of Bamberg (2000), Habilitation at FernUniversität in Hagen (2005), Magister-Artium from Heinrich-Heine University of Düsseldorf (1997).
• Roles: Spokesperson for the Section of Sociological Theory at the German Society for Sociology (2011–2017), Heisenberg-Scholar of the German Research Foundation (2006–2007).

Professor Kron’s research centers on sociological theories, hybridity, risk, and uncertainty. His work explores the intersection of social systems, rational-choice theory, and fuzzy logic, with applications to terrorism, cultural sociology, and interdisciplinary dialogues. He has delivered lectures internationally, including at the Lindauer Psychologiewochen 2017, Hosei University in Tokyo, and the German Society for Sociology conferences.
