Thomas Keusch is an Assistant Professor of Accounting and Control at INSEAD, based in Fontainebleau. He previously served on the faculty of Erasmus University Rotterdam and holds a PhD from Maastricht University. His research focuses on managerial accounting, sustainability, and corporate governance, with notable contributions to understanding board risk oversight, ESG performance, and executive compensation dynamics. His work has been published in top journals like The Accounting Review and Management Science.
Teaching areas include Managerial Accounting (emphasizing cost measurement and decision-making), Sustainability (developing frameworks for environmental cost estimation and strategic trade-offs), and Corporate Governance (exploring stakeholder vs. shareholder governance models). His research explores how board practices influence environmental and social outcomes, with findings showing that stronger board risk oversight correlates with better environmental performance but potentially worse social outcomes.
Keusch has conducted visiting research at Fuqua School of Business, Wharton, and Harvard Law School. His work often bridges academic rigor with practical insights for corporate governance and sustainability practices.
