John E. Core is a dual Professor of Accounting, holding positions at the MIT Sloan School of Management and Nanyang Technological University. His primary affiliation is with MIT Sloan, where he teaches Financial Accounting to first-year MBAs and conducts research on executive compensation, corporate governance, and disclosure practices. Core earned a BA from Yale University and a PhD from The Wharton School. Prior to academia, he worked in investment banking at PaineWebber and in compensation consulting at Ernst & Young.
Core’s research focuses on the interplay between financial reporting, executive incentives, and corporate governance. Notable areas include CEO compensation structures, the impact of disclosure policies on firm transparency, and the real effects of accounting standards on managerial behavior. His work has been published in leading journals such as the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, and Accounting Review.
