Thomas Jesse is an Associate Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. His research focuses on 20th/21st century American poetry, critical pedagogy in ELA classrooms, and rhetorical approaches to literature. He holds a Ph.D. in English from Texas Christian University (2015) and has taught at UWL since 2015, transitioning from Assistant to Associate Professor in 2021.
His work bridges literary analysis and education, with publications in Pacific Coast Philology, KB Journal, and edited collections like Beyond the Blockbusters: Themes and Trends in Contemporary Young Adult Literature. Awards include the Australia Tarver Award for Critical Essay and UWL’s Teaching and Inclusive Teaching recognitions.
Jesse teaches courses in American literature, secondary English education, and methods for future teachers. He actively supervises student teachers and presents at conferences like NCTE, RSA, and PAMLA, exploring topics from John Ashbery’s poetics to critical literacy in speculative fiction.
