Thomas J. Arnold is a Lecturer at the Department of History and Political Science, College of Arts & Sciences, Norwich University. He teaches courses including World War II, military history, and German history.
- Ph.D. in History from University of Kansas (2012)
- M.A. in German & European Studies from Georgetown University
- B.A. in International Relations from University of California-Davis
Dr. Arnold's research examines how warfare transforms human-nature relationships, urban environments, and resource dynamics. He focuses on 20th-century European conflicts, particularly Germany and Eastern Europe, and explores nature's dual role as ally/enemy in war.
His 2019 publication analyzed WWII environmental impacts on Munich's urban resilience. Teaching includes courses on civilization history, American history, and specialized topics in military history.
