Thomas Hunter is a Professor in the Department of Civic Engagement and Public Service at the University of West Georgia's University College. He holds degrees from the University of Virginia (Bachelor's, Master's, Law) and Johns Hopkins University (Ph.D.), and is a member of the North Carolina Bar. A former clerk for the U.S. Court of Appeals and educator at multiple institutions, he serves as UWG's Pre-Law Advisor and faculty advisor to two pre-law honor societies.

His research focuses on American legal and political history, with current book projects examining Congressional districting patterns, legal education institutionalization, and a biography of 19th-century North Carolina attorney-politician George E. Badger. He teaches courses spanning Constitutional Law, Judicial Process, American Government, and Political Parties & Elections.
As Pre-Law Advisor, he has facilitated student acceptance into 150+ law schools. His work includes publications on American legal history and political development.
