Robin Leiter-White is a Lecturer in the Department of Political Science at James Madison University (JMU), specializing in judicial politics and public policy. She teaches courses on Constitutional Law, Civil Rights, Appellate Process, and Housing Law and Policy. Additionally, she serves as a Pre-Law Advisor and faculty advisor to JMU’s Moot Court Team, which competes nationally. She holds a B.A. from the University of Virginia and a J.D. from the University of Richmond School of Law.
Her professional experience includes roles as senior managing attorney at Central Virginia Legal Aid Society (CVLAS), where she advocated for low-income clients in housing, foreclosure, and consumer protection cases. Notably, she co-counseled in Simmons v. T.M. Associates Management, Inc., a landmark 4th Circuit case affirming Fair Housing Act protections against disability-related discrimination. Prior to legal aid, she practiced plaintiffs’ law in California, clerked for a Virginia Circuit Court judge, and taught at the University of Virginia School of Law.
Leiter-White’s work intersects legal practice, policy, and education, emphasizing access to justice and civil rights. She advises students on pre-law pathways and actively contributes to JMU’s legal and academic community through her teaching and mentorship roles.
