Thomas Hochradner is an Associate Professor of Historical Musicology at the Musicology Department of Mozarteum University, Salzburg. He has led the Salzburg music history department since 2011 and previously headed the Institute for Research on Musical Reception & Interpretation (2006–2011) and the Department of Musicology (2014–2021). His research focuses on music philology, baroque music, church music, alpine folk music, and reception history with particular emphasis on Salzburg's musical heritage.
He has organized over 20 international symposia, including the 16th Biennial International Conference on Baroque Music (2014). Notable editorial works include Leopold Mozart. Chronicler and pioneer (2022), The Monk of Salzburg (2021), and Silent Night: The Book of the Song (2018). His publications span musicological analysis, conference proceedings, and thematic indices of composers' works.
Research interests coalesce around interconnections between historical music practices and cultural contexts, with methodological emphasis on textual criticism and reception studies. His work frequently addresses Salzburg's musical legacy through lenses of ecclesiastical history, folk traditions, and composer biography.
