Thomas Henick-Kling is a Professor of Enology at Washington State University (WSU), where he currently leads the Department of Viticulture & Enology. He specializes in wine microbiology, focusing on lactic acid bacteria, wine yeast ecology, and the molecular characterization of microorganisms impacting winemaking. His research explores how these organisms influence wine flavor and production techniques. Dr. Henick-Kling holds a Ph.D. in Microbiology/Biochemistry from The Australian Wine Research Institute and The University of Adelaide (1986), an M.S. in Microbiology from Oregon State University (1982), and a B.A. in Geography/Biology from Eberhard-Karl Universität, Tübingen, Germany (1977).
