Thomas Hayman

Thomas Hayman, MD, PhD is an Assistant Professor of Therapeutic Radiology at Yale School of Medicine. His primary appointment is in the Department of Therapeutic Radiology with additional affiliations across multiple Yale Cancer Center programs including the Center for Thoracic Cancers, Head and Neck Cancers Program, Prostate & Urologic Cancers Program, Skin & Kidney Cancer Program, and Spine Oncology Program. He also contributes to the DNA Damage and Genome Integrity research initiative.

Dr. Hayman's research focuses on understanding mechanisms of resistance to DNA-damage with the goal of developing novel approaches to neutralize adaptive responses to radiation therapy. His laboratory investigates the intersection of innate immune machinery and tumor response to DNA damage, building on his PhD work in molecular medicine which emphasized cellular radiosensitivity determinants. His clinical practice centers on treating lung, head and neck, and skin cancers using advanced techniques including stereotactic radiosurgery with Gamma Knife Icon, IMRT, and SBRT for various malignancies.
