Thomas Haine

Thomas Haine is Professor of Earth and Planetary Sciences at Johns Hopkins University's Morton K. Blaustein Department, specializing in high-latitude ocean dynamics and climate interactions. His research examines Arctic-Subarctic circulation, tracer transport diagnostics, and computational oceanography.

Haine's investigations focus on watermass transformations in the Nordic Seas, East Greenland Current variability, and ocean heat transport mechanisms. Recent publications analyze MIL-STD-1553 bus vulnerabilities, climate-scale Bjerknes compensation, and cross-processor covert channels, demonstrating interdisciplinary approaches to geophysical systems.

He advises graduate students including Joan Bonilla-Pagan and Wenrui Jiang, with NSF-supported fieldwork in Greenland. Haine developed the OceanSpy and Poseidon Project tools for ocean model analysis.
