Thomas Finney is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Psychology, Sport and Sensory Science at Anglia Ruskin University's Faculty of Science and Engineering, where he teaches Optometry and Ophthalmic Dispensing pathways while concurrently serving as a Specialist Clinical Optometrist at Royal Stoke University Hospital in Stoke-on-Trent.

- PG Cert Learning & Teaching (Higher Education) from Anglia Ruskin University

Finney's research focuses on advancing clinical optometry through investigations into Medical Retina pathology, Emergency Eye Care protocols, professional role expansion for eye care practitioners, and Binocular Vision disorders. His work bridges academic theory and hospital practice within the Vision and Hearing Sciences Research Group.
As an educator, he leads modules in Human & Ocular Anatomy, Refractive Management, and Paediatric/Vocational Dispensing while tutoring Ocular Pathology and clinical refraction courses. His dual-hospital-academic role provides students with direct exposure to NHS clinical environments.
