معرفی
Thomas Einwögerer is a renowned archaeologist and Head of the Quaternary Archaeology Research Group at the Austrian Academy of Sciences (ÖAW). He holds a PhD from the University of Vienna and has been a research associate at the ÖAW since 2000. He has led major excavations at Upper Paleolithic sites such as Krems-Wachtberg and Kammern-Grubgraben, focusing on Gravettian culture and settlement patterns. His work integrates archaeology with environmental science, geochemistry, and genetics to understand human adaptation during the Last Glacial Maximum. Einwögerer also teaches at the University of Vienna’s Institute for Prehistory and Historical Archaeology and advises on heritage preservation for the Federal Office for the Protection of Monuments.
Research interests include Paleolithic settlement dynamics, lithic technology, experimental archaeology, and the analysis of art and jewelry. Key projects involve reconstructing subsistence strategies through stable isotope analysis and investigating spatial organization at open-air sites. His studies on infant burials at Krems-Wachtberg (e.g., twin remains) have advanced bioarchaeological understanding of early human social structures.
Publications span over 40 peer-reviewed articles, including seminal works on the Kammern-Grubgraben site and the application of geochemical proxies in archaeological contexts. Collaborative projects with institutions like the University of Vienna and international researchers highlight his role in advancing interdisciplinary paleoenvironmental and archaeological research.
