Thomas Egan

Dr. Thomas Egan is a Lecturer in the Department of Accountancy and Economics at SETU Waterford, affiliated with the School of Business. He holds roles in the AIB Centre for Finance and Business Research and the Centre for Management Research in Healthcare & Healthcare Economics. Since 1996, he has taught undergraduate and postgraduate modules in health economics, econometrics, and business analytics. Egan completed his PhD (2012) at the University of Nottingham on risk management in clinical negligence processes.

Research interests include health economics, statistical analysis, risk management, and sustainable finance. He has conducted consultancy work for multinational companies like TEVA and West Pharma. Current projects include the Football Cooperative initiative assessing men’s physical activity interventions. Egan supervises PhD/DBA students and directs the Executive MBA program since 2002.

Recent publications (2023–2025) focus on community health initiatives, mental health in construction workers, and green bond market dynamics. His work aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals related to health and well-being.
