Dr. Thomas A Morrison is a Senior Lecturer in Ecology & Environmental Change at the University of Glasgow. He directs the Conservation Management of African Ecosystems MSc program and has conducted research in East Africa for over 20 years. His work focuses on wildlife ecology, conservation biology, and the consequences of animal movement on ecosystem dynamics.
Education: B.S. in Biology from Duke University (2002), Ph.D. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology from Dartmouth College (2011).
Research Interests:
- Animal movement patterns and their ecological impacts
- Parasite dynamics in migratory species
- Human-wildlife interactions and conservation challenges
- Effects of climate and land use changes on ecosystems
Recent Research Trends: His publications emphasize movement ecology, parasite-host dynamics, and the role of human activities in shaping wildlife behavior. Key themes include migratory connectivity, spatial ecology, and the application of geochemical tools for tracking animal movements.
Advising & Grants: Supervising students including Samuel Bainbridge and Mercedes Burgueno. Active grants include UKRI ODA MCF funding for environmental solutions and BBSRC support for ungulate migration studies.
Labs/Teams: Collaborates with research groups in Ecology & Environmental Change, Infectious Disease Ecology, and Evolution & Diversity at the University of Glasgow.
