Thom Long

Thom Long is Dean of Art and Media and Professor of Architecture and Design at Hampshire College. He holds a B.Arch. from Roger Williams University and an M.S. in Advanced Architectural Design from Columbia University. A practicing architect and graphic designer, his work spans architecture, branding, interactive installations, and social justice initiatives.

• Founded and leads IdeaCo., a creative studio for branding and design
• Collaborates with Wodiczko + Bonder on public art projects like the Memorial for the Abolition of Slavery in Nantes, France
• Developed the Five College Architectural Studies Major (FCAS) and co-founded The Creativity Center at Hampshire

Research & Teaching: Focuses on transdisciplinary design, emphasizing the engineered interaction between bodies and objects. Courses include Brand-Building, Advanced Architecture + Design Lab, and Digital Constructions, blending technical rigor with conceptual exploration.
