Thierry Vanelslander

Thierry Vanelslander is a Professor at the Department of Transport and Regional Economics, part of the Faculty of Applied Economics at the University of Antwerp. He holds a PhD in Applied Economics from the same institution. His roles include Course Coordinator for Management of Innovation and Technology, Port Economics & Business at C-MAT, and Transport Economics at the Faculty of Applied Economics. He teaches in the Master in Maritime and Air Transport Management program.
Research Focus: Vanelslander specializes in business economics within the port and maritime sector, land transport, and urban logistics. His PhD research addressed cooperation and competition in sea port container handling. He chairs the World Conference on Transport Research (WCTR) Special Interest Group A2 (Ports and Maritime) and manages WCTR’s Track A (Transport Modes). He also leads the Freight & Logistics group within the European Transport Conference.
