Thiago Martins serves as an Assistant Professor in Beef Reproduction, Extension & Research within the Department of Animal Sciences at the University of Missouri, focusing on optimizing reproductive efficiency in beef cattle systems through integrated research and extension initiatives.
His educational qualifications include:
- Ph.D. in Reproductive Physiology from University of São Paulo
- M.S. in Animal Production from São Paulo State University
- D.V.M. from São Paulo State University
Dr. Martins' research program investigates endocrine, cellular, and molecular mechanisms controlling cattle reproductive tract function to maximize conception rates. His laboratory employs steroid assays, ultrasound imaging, molecular techniques, and omics approaches to study progesterone-based estrous synchronization strategies, embryo-maternal communication, early embryonic loss prevention, and novel fertility-promoting molecules. The work directly supports the practical implementation of reproductive biotechnologies in commercial cow-calf operations with the ultimate goal of increasing kilograms of calves produced per breeding female.
His laboratory facilities are housed in the Animal Science Research Center (Lab: 160B) at the University of Missouri.
