Thi Bogossian

Thi Bogossian (they/them) is an Associate Tutor at the University of Surrey's Faculty of Arts, Business and Social Sciences, affiliated with the Sociology department and the Language, Literacies and Learning Research Group. They hold a PhD in Sociology from the University of Surrey, an IntM in Adult Education for Social Change from the University of Glasgow, and a BA in Geography from Universidade Federal Fluminense (Brazil). Their research focuses on migration, education, social difference, identity, ethnicity, race, gender, sexuality, childhood, and participatory methodologies.

Thi’s academic journey includes prior work as a secondary school and community educator in Brazil, followed by roles as a Graduate Teaching Assistant (2019–2024) teaching qualitative methods and criminology modules. They were recognized in the 2022 VC Awards for academic contributions. Their work bridges interdisciplinary perspectives, emphasizing social justice and equity through participatory and creative research approaches.

Key research themes include diasporic identity preservation, anti-racist pedagogy, and the intersection of care work and higher education accessibility. Thi has published extensively on topics ranging from Armenian diaspora education to spatial justice in geography curricula, with a focus on marginalized communities. They actively engage in policy critique and advocacy for inclusive educational systems.
