Therkel Stræde is a Lecturer in modern German history at the University of Southern Denmark, affiliated with the Department of Culture and Language. He specializes in Holocaust Studies, German history, and history education. His research focuses on topics such as Nazi persecution, historical memorialization, and ethical dimensions of historical inquiry. He has conducted fieldwork at major Holocaust memorial sites like Auschwitz-Birkenau and Majdanek.
Stræde has held teaching roles at SDU since 1995, including courses in history, German language, and medical history. He has also taught at institutions worldwide, including Georgetown University, University of California Los Angeles, and Tel Aviv University. His teaching extends to public education initiatives through Denmark’s Folkeuniversitet and refugee integration programs.
