Therese E. Johnston is a Professor of Physical Therapy and Director of the Masters in Rehabilitation Science program at Arcadia University. She holds dual roles as a part-time clinician at Jefferson-Moss-Magee Rehabilitation and serves as Vice-President of the Academy of Physical Therapy Research. Her academic journey includes a BA in Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania, an MBA in Health Administration from St. Joseph’s University, an MS in Physical Therapy from Arcadia University, and a PhD in Physical Therapy from Temple University.
Research Interests: Her work focuses on improving health and function in populations such as individuals with spinal cord injuries, children with cerebral palsy, and female runners. Key themes include spinal cord injury interventions, bone health, cardiovascular fitness, functional electrical stimulation, and sports-related musculoskeletal biomechanics. Recent studies emphasize stress fractures in female runners and their multifaceted risk factors.
