Kristin Vamvas Day is a part-time (PT) Assistant Professor at Arcadia University and holds affiliations with the Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute. Her expertise bridges clinical practice as a neurologic physical therapist with research in neurorehabilitation and recovery mechanisms post-neurological injury. She collaborates with Dr. John Whyte on electrophysiological studies of consciousness in severe brain injury patients, focusing on EEG and accelerometer-based assessments.
- Education: PhD in Rehabilitation Science (Neuromuscular Plasticity and Motor Control) from the University of Florida (2010), MPT in Physical Therapy from Ohio University (2002), and BS in Biological Sciences from Ohio University (2000).
Research interests emphasize understanding recovery trajectories and developing interventions to enhance sensorimotor and cognitive outcomes. Current projects investigate covert command following in disorders of consciousness and the potential of locomotor interventions to stimulate recovery. Prior work explored spinal cord injury rehabilitation using robotic and manual locomotor training.
- Scientific Awards: Recipient of the Ellington Beavers Award for Intellectual Inquiry.
No advising or grant details are explicitly documented here. She is affiliated with the Moss Rehabilitation Research Institute, contributing to interdisciplinary research teams focused on neurorehabilitation innovations.
