Theresa L. Sweeny

Dr. Theresa L. Sweeny is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Nursing at St. Francis College (SFC), where she has been a full-time faculty member since 2016. She specializes in curriculum development for nursing education, particularly in simulation laboratories and online/blended learning environments. Dr. Sweeny holds a Ph.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), School of Public Health, alongside advanced degrees in public health, nursing, and microbiology.

Her teaching spans undergraduate nursing courses from fundamentals to nursing research, emphasizing student-centered learning and diversity. She has taught in Tanzania and Saudi Arabia, contributing to global health education. Administratively, she serves on SFC’s college-wide Planning Committee and the Nursing Department’s Curriculum Committee. Dr. Sweeny advocates for the Nursing Simulation Lab’s role in enhancing skill development through life-like mannequins, aiming to set a pedagogical model for nursing education.
