He previously served as a Researcher at the Kykkos Monastery Studies Center (1996–2007) before joining UCY in 2007. His research focuses on early Ottoman Empire history, Ottoman cultural dynamics, and Cypriot society under Ottoman rule.
His academic contributions include seminal works such as The Sultan of Vezirs (2001) analyzing 15th-century Ottoman governance, and Studies on the History of Cyprus under Ottoman Rule (2012). He co-edited Histories of Ottoman Larnaca (2012), exploring the port's strategic role during the Napoleonic era. His research bridges Ottoman administrative practices with local societal adaptations in Cyprus.
Stavridis’s work integrates archival documents with socio-cultural analysis, emphasizing understudied aspects of Ottoman-Cypriot interactions. His studies on Turahanid dynastic politics and Cypriot socio-administrative structures during the 18th–19th centuries have redefined scholarly perspectives on Ottoman peripheral governance.
