Theda Borde

Prof. Dr. Theda Borde is a Professor for Social Medical/Medical Sociological Foundations of Social Work and Public Health at Alice Salomon Hochschule Berlin. She holds a doctoral degree in Public Health from Technical University Berlin and has extensive experience in migration and healthcare research. She served as Rector of the university from 2010–2014 and pioneered initiatives like the interprofessional bachelor's program 'Interprofessional Health Care – Online'. Her research focuses on migration health, equity in healthcare, and intercultural competencies. Key positions include chairing the Council of Europe's 'Committee of Experts on Health Services in a Multi-Cultural Society' and leading DFG-funded projects on refugee healthcare.

Research Interests: Migration and Health, Social Determinants of Health, Perinatal Care for Refugees, Interprofessional Education, and Health Equity. Current projects include 'PROREF' (DFG-funded refugee healthcare analyses) and 'Empowerment for Diversity' (Stiftung Mercator-funded initiative).

Scientific Awards: Including the Obstetrics and Gynaecology Award for Most Cited Article, First Prize for health-promoting organizational development, and Oskar Kuhn Prize.

Advising/Grants: Supervised numerous students and coordinated projects funded by DFG, BMBF, and Robert Bosch Stiftung. Collaborates with Charité University Medicine Berlin and Technical University Berlin.

Labs/Teams: Leads the 'Migration and Health' research group and contributes to the Berlin School of Public Health.
