Thais França is an Integrated Researcher at the Center for Research and Studies in Sociology (CIES-Iscte) within the University Institute of Lisbon (ISCTE). She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of Coimbra, a Master’s in Work, Organizational and Personnel Psychology from the University of Bologna (Italy), and a Psychology degree from the Federal University of Ceará (Brazil). Her research spans feminist and gender studies, postcolonialism, scientific mobility, and social inequalities, with a focus on Brazil-EU migration dynamics.

Her scientific work examines international student mobility equity, climate-driven migration, and neoliberal academic labor during crises. She coordinates the [Migrations, Mobility and Ethnicity] research line and serves in the European Commission’s expert group on gender equality post-pandemic. França has published extensively on racial microaggressions, far-right movements, and intersectional challenges faced by marginalized student populations.
Key scientific awards include her role in EU-level expert groups and leadership in transnational research networks. Her teaching covers Sociology of Work, Research Design, and Gender Equality at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
