Tessa Beinema is a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Communication Science department of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam (VU Amsterdam), where she investigates human-robot bonding within the ROBOT-BOND project focusing on adolescents with mood disorders in mental healthcare. She holds a PhD in Personalized eHealth Technology from the University of Twente and has extensive experience in conversational agent development for healthcare applications. Previously, she worked at the University of Twente’s Human-Media Interaction group, Innovation Sprint, and Roessingh Research and Development.
Her research focuses on AI-driven solutions for health coaching, decision-making support, and personalized eHealth interventions. She led the 'coaching strategies and knowledge base' work package in the Horizon 2020 Council of Coaches project and contributed to open-source platforms like the WOOL Dialogue Platform and Agents United Alliance.
Key projects include the ZonMw eCG Family Clinic project (virtual assistant development) and European initiatives like iHelp and RE-SAMPLE. She has coordinated interdisciplinary efforts in telemonitoring and digital society health programs, emphasizing multidisciplinary approaches to healthcare technology.
