Terry Peak is a Professor at Utah State University (USU) and former Director of the Social Work program (2003-2022). He played a pivotal role in establishing USU's Master of Social Work (MSW) program. With an H-index of 17 and over 30 peer-reviewed publications, his research focuses on aging, health policy, LGBTQIA+ inclusivity, and men’s health. He has presented at over 40 national and one international conference.

Research Interests: Terry Peak’s work examines effective components of same-sex marriage, men’s health, nursing home quality, family caregiving, mental health courts, and inclusive services for LGBTQIA+ older adults. Notable collaborations include co-editing a special issue of The American Behavioral Scientist on mental health courts with Dr. Shannon Hughes, and co-authoring studies on masculinity and health with Dr. Julie Gast.
Publications Trends: Recent articles (2020–2024) highlight dyadic analyses of health behaviors in gay married couples, anti-fat attitudes, and religious influences on health perceptions. Earlier work (2010–2019) explores Latino men’s health, masculine gender scripts, and healthcare utilization barriers among religious men.
Grants and Conferences: He chaired Intermountain Mental Health Court Conferences and contributed to participatory rural health assessments. His work includes needs assessments for Utah’s aging population and evaluations of nursing home quality via customer satisfaction surveys.
