Terrie E. Moffitt is a Professor at Duke University, affiliated with the Institute of Psychiatry at King's College London, and the Dunedin School of Medicine at the University of Otago. Her research focuses on the interplay between genetic and environmental risks in shaping abnormal human behaviors, particularly antisocial/criminal behavior, depression, psychosis, and substance abuse. She is a licensed clinical psychologist and leads two major longitudinal studies: the Dunedin Longitudinal Study and the Environmental-Risk Longitudinal Twin Study (E-Risk).

Moffitt’s work explores how childhood self-control gradients predict lifelong outcomes like health, wealth, and public safety. She contributes to global studies via administrative data from Norway, Denmark, and New Zealand.
She has received prestigious awards including the Stockholm Prize in Criminology (2007), NARSAD Ruane Prize (2010), and multiple fellowships from institutions like the American Academy of Political and Social Science (2008) and King’s College London (2010). Moffitt also participates in the DSM-V working party for childhood disruptive disorders and ADHD.
