Terri D Fisher

Dr. Terri D Fisher is a Teaching Professor of Psychology at the University of the South (Sewanee), where she also serves as Director of the Office of Undergraduate Research and Scholarship and Director of Research in Psychology. She holds a B.A. from Wake Forest University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in experimental/developmental psychology from the University of Georgia. Prior to joining Sewanee in 2016, she had a long career at The Ohio State University at Mansfield.

Her research focuses on human sexuality, including parent-child communication about sexuality, societal expectations, and gender stereotyping influencing sexual behavior reporting. She has co-edited major publications like the Handbook of Sexuality-Related Measures and Speaking of Sexuality. Dr. Fisher is a Past-President of the Midcontinent Region of the Society for the Scientific Study of Sexuality (SSSS) and holds Fellow status in SSSS. She has received awards for research, service, and leadership.

Teaching responsibilities include courses like Controversies in Human Sexuality Research, Psychology of Gender, and Introduction to Psychology. Her work emphasizes bridging academic rigor with undergraduate research mentorship.
