Dr. Lindsay Masland serves as Professor in the Department of Psychology and Executive Director of the Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning for Student Success (CETLSS) at Appalachian State University, where she has contributed since 2011 to both undergraduate Psychology programs and the graduate School Psychology MA/SSP degree.
Educational background:
- Ph.D. in Educational Psychology (Statistics concentration), University of Georgia

- BA in Experimental Psychology, Wake Forest University
Her research examines intersections between statistical methodologies, pedagogical innovation, and student success metrics through the Teaching and Student Success Lab (TASSL). This work bridges educational theory with practical classroom applications, focusing on evidence-based teaching strategies that enhance learning outcomes across diverse academic disciplines. Current projects investigate faculty development frameworks and learning analytics to optimize instructional design.
As CETLSS Executive Director, Dr. Masland oversees university-wide initiatives that transform teaching practices through workshops, consultations, and resource development. She actively mentors undergraduate and graduate researchers from all disciplines in TASSL, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration on educational research while advancing Appalachian State's teaching excellence mission from the CETLSS office in Anne Belk Hall.
