Sara Masland is an Associate Professor of Psychological Science at Pomona College since 2017 and a licensed clinical psychologist. She serves as a Good Psychiatric Management (GPM) trainer for borderline personality disorder (BPD) and co-chairs a multinational research committee focused on enhancing GPM.
- Education: Ph.D. and M.A. from Harvard University, A.B. from Bowdoin College
Her research centers on treatment improvement and accessibility for personality disorders, with a focus on BPD and narcissistic personality disorder (NPD), and examines how stigma impacts care. She also investigates social cognition, identity, emotion processes, and psychosocial predictors of transdiagnostic outcomes, such as perceived criticism in relationships.
Recent publications highlight advancements in GPM, meta-analyses of interventions for nonsuicidal self-injury, and strategies to destigmatize BPD. Her work integrates clinical practice with empirical research to address gaps in mental health care.
