Terri Bourus is a Professor of English at Florida State University’s Department of English, part of the College of Arts and Sciences. Her research focuses on Early Modern Drama’s print and performance dynamics, with a specialization in Shakespearean texts, Irish drama, book history, and women’s studies. She is a General Editor of the New Oxford Shakespeare, emphasizing performance-centric textual analysis. Bourus has received numerous teaching and research awards, including the IU Trustees Teaching Award (2012) and multiple grants supporting her work on textual editing and performance studies.
Her research integrates textual scholarship with theatrical practice, exploring how early modern plays were received and reinterpreted through print and performance. Notable projects include Shakespeare and the First Hamlet (2022) and studies on Arden of Faversham and Cardenio. Bourus also investigates modern adaptations of early modern works through film, digital media, and evolving technologies.
