Albert Einstein College of Medicineمعرفی
Teresa V. Bowman is a Professor in the Departments of Developmental & Molecular Biology, Oncology, and Medicine at Albert Einstein College of Medicine. She holds the Renée E. and Robert A. Belfer Chair in Developmental Biology and serves as Chair of the Department of Developmental & Molecular Biology. Her research focuses on understanding hematopoietic stem and progenitor cell (HSPC) formation, their role in healthy hematopoiesis, and their dysfunction in diseases like myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS).
Her work combines zebrafish models with human cell studies to explore genetic and molecular mechanisms underlying HSPC biology. Key projects include identifying regulators of HSC emergence during embryogenesis, deciphering how MDS-linked mutations alter stem cell traits, and investigating RNA/DNA binding proteins' roles in R-loop formation and inflammation.
Publications highlight her contributions to understanding DDX41's role in myeloid malignancies, splicing factor mutations in MDS, and R-loop-driven inflammatory cascades. Her lab's findings aim to inform therapies targeting HSC dysfunction and improve stem cell transplantation strategies.
Dr. Bowman collaborates extensively in translational research, bridging basic science with clinical applications. Her lab's interdisciplinary approach integrates developmental biology, oncology, and molecular genetics to address fundamental questions in hematopoiesis and disease pathogenesis.
