Teresa Stanton Collett is a Professor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law, serving as Director of its Prolife Center. She holds a JD from the University of Oklahoma College of Law and a BA from the University of Oklahoma. Her expertise spans bioethics, constitutional law, family law, legal ethics, and reproductive rights advocacy.
Her research focuses on marriage law policy, church-state relations, and pro-life legal issues. Collett has co-authored a legal casebook on professional responsibility and edited scholarly works on Catholic perspectives in law. She has testified before U.S. Congress and state legislatures, advised on international conferences like the ICPD, and held appointments with the Vatican’s Pontifical Council for the Family (2009–2016).
Notable legal engagements include defending U.S. federal abortion restrictions and state parental involvement laws before the Supreme Court. She has served as Special Attorney General for Oklahoma and Kansas, litigating cases protecting human life and marriage.
Collett’s professional recognitions include membership in the American Law Institute. She teaches courses on supervised legal research and writing, and previously founded the first annual legal ethics symposium at South Texas College of Law.
