Teresa M. Neff is a Senior Lecturer in Music at MIT, affiliated with the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences. She holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from Boston University. Her research focuses on 18th-century music, historically informed performance practices, and the history of the Handel and Haydn Society. She has been the Handel and Haydn Society’s Christopher Hogwood Historically Informed Performance Fellow since 2009.

Her work includes co-editing The Handel and Haydn Society: Bringing Music to Life for 200 Years and producing the CD The Old Colony Collection. She has published in Die Musik in Geschichte und Gegenwart and edited performing editions of symphonies by Gottfried van Swieten.
She has presented at conferences such as the American Musicological Society, American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies, and the International “Classics Off-Centre” Conference.

Teresa is actively involved in MIT’s music ensembles and contributes to music education through her teaching and scholarly activities.
