Teresa Bürge is a Research Fellow at the Institute of Oriental and European Archaeology (IOES) of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. She serves as assistant excavation director at the Swedish excavations at Tell Abu al-Kharaz, Jordan, and co-director of the excavation at Hala Sultan Tekke, Cyprus. Since 2020, she holds the APART-GSK fellowship for her project investigating depositional practices in Late Bronze Age Cyprus.

- Research Assistant at IOES since 2013; University Assistant at the University of Vienna’s Institute of Oriental Studies (2013–2016)
Her research focuses on Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age material culture in the Eastern Mediterranean and Southern Levant, emphasizing trade networks, migration, pottery chronology, and ritual practices. Key projects include studying intercultural relations in Jordan’s Jordan Valley (Tell Abu al-Kharaz) and organic residue analysis at Hala Sultan Tekke.
Her work addresses depositional practices in wells and shafts, exploring whether artifacts were ritualistically deposited or discarded as refuse. She also investigates Bronze Age societal collapse in Cyprus and the provenance of ceramics.
