Teresa Ashcraft

Dr. Teresa Ashcraft holds dual academic roles as a Faculty Associate at Arizona State University (ASU)'s School of Earth and Space Exploration and an Assistant Professor of Physics at the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI). Her research focuses on observational galaxy evolution and extragalactic deep fields, utilizing data from the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) and Large Binocular Telescope (LBT). She is a core member of the UVCANDELS team analyzing near-ultraviolet observations of deep fields.

Education: B.S. in Physics from Louisiana State University (LSU), Ph.D. in Astrophysics from ASU. Her career includes extensive observational astronomy experience, with telescope operations across Arizona and collaborative projects.

Teaching spans introductory to advanced astronomy and physics courses at both institutions, including online and in-person formats. At UVI, she teaches AST 111/112 series, labs (AST 113/114), and special topics (SES/AST 394/194). She also contributes to ASU's online Astronomy and Planetary Sciences degree program.

Public outreach is a key passion, exemplified by her leadership of ASU's Earth and Space Open House, which she expanded during her graduate studies. She actively mentors students and engages in science communication.
