Terence O'Neill is a Professor of Rheumatology & Clinical Epidemiology at the University of Manchester, affiliated with the Division of Musculoskeletal & Dermatological Sciences. He holds academic roles since 1997 (Senior Lecturer), 2007 (Reader), and 2011 (current Professorial appointment). His medical training includes an MB BCh BAO from Dublin University (1984) followed by specialized postgraduate training in rheumatology and clinical epidemiology.
Research focuses include osteoporosis epidemiology, musculoskeletal frailty, and osteoarthritis clinical trials. He collaborates with the Research in Osteoarthritis Manchester (ROAM) team and serves on professional bodies like the National Osteoporosis Society’s Clinical & Scientific Committee.
Current projects include the NIHR Manchester Biomedical Research Centre and the Arthritis Research UK Clinical Studies Group on Osteoarthritis. His work spans epidemiological studies on aging populations, musculoskeletal conditions, and healthcare interventions.
