Tena Konjević is a teaching assistant at the Faculty of Law, Josip Juraj Strossmayer University of Osijek, and a junior scientific researcher at the Central European Academy in Budapest. She is also the Croatian National Expert for the European Trade Union Institute in Brussels, contributing to the 'Right to Strike' project. She is currently pursuing her PhD in the Central European Comparative Law Program at Deák Ferenc Doctoral School of Law under the supervision of Professor Mario Vinković.
Her academic journey includes an international LLM in European Public Law from the European Public Law Organization (EPLO), where her thesis earned the Luis Ortega Prize, and she is currently completing a second LLM in Human Rights and Rule of Law at the University of Miskolc under Professor Nóra Jakab. She holds a Master of Laws from the Faculty of Law in Osijek, graduating as the top student of her generation with a GPA of 4.98.
Tena Konjević's research focuses on labour and social security law, human rights, EU law, and comparative legal studies, with a strong emphasis on the rights of posted and migrant workers in the EU, freedom of movement, and the impact of human rights due diligence. Her scholarly work spans topics such as EU enlargement, insolvency law reforms, gender and labour rights under socialism, and judicial independence in Croatia. She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and edited volumes, contributing to the understanding of legal challenges in Central and Eastern Europe.
Her recent publications reflect a consistent focus on the intersection of EU law, labour rights, and human rights protection, particularly for vulnerable groups. She frequently presents at international conferences in Strasbourg, Venice, Geneva, and beyond, and contributes to academic discourse through her roles on the editorial boards of 'CEA Law Review' and 'Yearbook of Contemporary Legal Challenges'.
Among her notable recognitions are the Luis Ortega Prize, multiple scholarships from the Zlatko Crnić Foundation (including as the best law student in Croatia), the Rector’s Award, four Dean’s Awards, and funding from the International Society for Labour and Social Security Law and CNRS–University of Strasbourg.
Tena has practical legal experience from internships at Wolf Theiss Croatia and Crowe Croatia, the Municipal Court in Slavonski Brod, and Moot Court Croatia, where her team placed second. She is a certified court interpreter for English. She is actively involved in academic service, having chaired the Organising Committee of the European Labour Law Young Scholars’ Conference 2024.
She teaches seminars in 'Basics of Labour and Social Law' and 'Labour and Social Law' at the undergraduate and integrated law programs. Her research is supported by ongoing academic training and international collaborations, positioning her as a rising scholar in European and comparative labour law.
