Tehila Nugiel is Assistant Professor of Psychology and Neuroscience at Florida State University. Her research investigates how neuroscience can improve academic and mental health outcomes for youth, using fMRI to study brain function in children with learning challenges and ADHD.
Research examines brain network dynamics during attention and reward processing tasks, neurocognitive development across childhood/adolescence, and impacts of interventions like methylphenidate. Current projects explore pubertal influences on mental health, discrimination effects on attention networks, and neurocognitive foundations of academic skills in diverse learners.
Recent publications focus on: cortical development and neurocognition (2025), network reconfiguration during cognitive tasks (2025), methylphenidate effects on brain organization in ADHD (2025), and neural correlates of academic skills in English learners (2023-2024). Methodological innovations include motion-reduction techniques for pediatric fMRI and tools for ecological validity assessment.
