Tehia Starker Glass is a Professor of Elementary Education and Educational Psychology at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte’s Cato College of Education. She is the first Black woman to earn tenure in her college, with a focus on culturally responsive teaching and educational equity. Her research explores teacher efficacy in diverse classrooms, HBCU impacts, and race discourse in education.

Her research interests include culturally responsive pedagogy, teacher education at HBCUs, and preparing educators to address racial dynamics in classrooms. Recent publications highlight frameworks for integrating cultural relevance into teacher training and analyzing systemic whiteness in urban schools. She has been recognized with the Bethune-Cookman 40 Under 40 Award and the UNC @i3 Technology Fellowship.
Dr. Starker Glass teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in educational technology, multicultural education, and child development. She mentors graduate students and has advised assistant professors on tenure processes. She is affiliated with the UNC Charlotte Urban Education Collaborative and active in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and community organizations focused on racial discourse in education.
