Teemu Leppänen

Teemu Leppänen is a Lecturer at the University of Oulu's Faculty of Information Technology and Electrical Engineering, affiliated with the Center for Ubiquitous Computing. His teaching focuses on embedded systems programming for IoT, computer systems, and distributed systems.

His research spans Internet of Things, edge and mist computing, with emphasis on distributed AI methods and solutions for smart urban environments. He has contributed to real-world IoT applications and systems.

Since 2010, he has participated in 16 research projects funded by national organizations and the European Union, collaborating with EU, Japan, and China partners. He conducted research visits at the University of Tokyo (2012–2013) and University of Calabria (2019).

He is a Senior Member of IEEE and has received three best paper awards. He has authored ~60 peer-reviewed articles across journals, conferences, and research books.
